'Live Review - Laughlin Nevada River Run 2003
Edgewater Casino-Hotel
Going into this live review, it was known that this was the first for Stone appearing in the Laughlin River Run, BUT it won't be their last. As Stone was setting up to take over the stage for their performance, I ask
J.J. Garcia (drummer) "are you ready for this?", his reply was "oh yeah! We're always ready". A true Hard Core professional statement...

I am totally awed by the professionalism that came from this bunch of superb talented musicians. Once the show got on the way, it was obvious that their talents was flowing from every ounce of their being.
Stone opened their show with the Eric Clapton's 'Torn Down' and even Eric Clapton could'nt of done it any better. The sounds coming from Brad Wilson and his Gibson Les Paul guitar was a clean crisp hot axe action....and to see the expressions on Brads face with each and every note, it was ONLY obvious that he was totally satisfied with what he was putting out there. Brad Wilson's rendition of a Led Zeppelin song made it sound like it was a Stone original, being a humongous Led Z. fan, this caught my attention real fast. Watch out Robert Plant, Brad Wilson is in the house and hot hot hot.
Brian James (bass player) did a cover song of ZZ Top 'Tush',,, Brian has the high range of vocals to make this song hot sounding along with the hot dripping wet sound coming from the guitar action of Brad Wilson..Excellent job guys!!
This band as a whole is extremely tight and their dynamics are out of this world. Stone consist of:
Brad Wilson - lead vocals/lead guitar: His lead guitar playing is totally professional, not a bad sound coming from his instrument, ONLY solid crisp licks. His blues will jump into your heart and soul, and then away you go on the blues ride of your life. Believe me that is a ride you will never forget. And he has a gift of sustaining power that is totally Endless..As for vocals, he has a wide range of vocals that at times, come out sultry and with his own style you just may hear some Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Greg Allman etc. Brad has a voice to die for...
Brian James - vocals/bass: This bass player is outstanding in the instrument department with his crisp clean bass licks - in the pocket sounds, and along with his talents as a musician Brian is a showman on stage, his energy and stamina is totally awesome.
J.J. Garcia - drummer: is a solid - in the pocket drummer and has the most solid clean crisp breaks I have ever heard..it is only obvious why JJ is with Stone, they wanted the ultimate best and let me tell you, they have the BEST in JJ Garcia. Awesome drummer....
Mario Zamora - keyboards: Excellent keyboard player. Mario joined Stone in the fall/2002 but he obviously knows his way around a keyboard. Mario plays the keys with vigorous energy that makes it look so easy, but we know better. Mario truly adds that extra touch to the music of Stone. And as the others, this musician puts out clean crisp notes that is pleasant to the ear..
Stone did some of their original material - which in my opinion is of top quality sound/songwriting/superb talents coming from each and every song rather its from their first CD 'Somewhere in L.A.' or the second CD 'Here Before'................
'Show Me' - from the 'Here Before' CD has some extraordinary solid drum action, clean breaks along with the excellent guitar action/vocals and the rhythm section holding it all together.
'Teaser' from the first CD 'Somewhere in L.A.', chosen for the soundtrack of John Carpenter's 'Vampire' movie. Teaser is of excellent songwriting material mixed with the extraordinary talents of this group of musicians..................easy to see why it was picked for the movie.
The Stone new release 'Stone III' should hit the shelves approximately June 2003, keep your eyes and ears open.........do yourself a favor, go get it. You will not be sorry.
