Kathryn Grimm - Grimm Again

Four Way FreeKathyrn Grimm mixes blues with a singer/songwriter focus on this CD that features nine of her songs (one track is by another writer). She generally works here with just her own electric guitar, Leon “Randy” Randolph, and Jeff Swissstack on drums (some drum programming is used).
Although her guitar work is fine, the focus here is on her vocals and lyrics. They are blues oriented, with nearly every track about love lost or gone wrong. Two exceptions are “Who’Da Thunk” and “Saviour”, which are upbeat songs about love gone right. A few songs are enhanced with background vocals, including Marcy Levy on “Who’Da Thunk”. Levy has been in Bob Seger’s band, and has written songs for Eric Clapton.
Grimm also produced and engineered “Grimm Again”.
This CD has spirited singing, solid writing, and interesting guitar work that features subtle effects.
